North Africa.  This is the well-known, winter flowering Iris with narrow, almost grass-like leaves and formerly known as Iris stylosa.  The flowers are lavender-blue, scented and borne on short stems.  Grow in full sun in a sheltered position.  Cut the foliage back in late summer or early autumn.
