North America. Tall, purple stems carry nicely balanced whorls of bright green pointed leaves. The stems are topped with wide, flattish heads of rosy-purple flowers. One of the most imposing of herbaceous plants and quite splendid for the back of the border or amongst shrubs. Moist soil.
